Mindful Health has created a program that will transform your body, your mind and your life! We have used our experience to design a plan that will address the core issues around weight loss — fitness, nutrition, relaxation, motivation and emotions.
This 90-day program is scientific and collaborative, and has been tailored to meet your needs. It combines fitness, nutrition, cooking, Pilates and massage and it offers various programs that fit your motivation level and financial circumstances.
Training: The training portion of the program will be conducted by Josh Margolis of Mind Over Matter Fitness (see the link to the right). The fitness sessions are conducted in-home and no equipment is necessary. Josh will utilize each person's own body weight for resistance as well as utilize resistance bands and other tools to shape and sculpt the body. This is a convenient option because the trainer will not only come to you but sessions can be scheduled on your time. You will receive individualized attention and, as a result, will progress very quickly.
Nutrition: Nutrition sessions will be conducted by Nicole Glassman of Mindful Health. Nutrition sessions will be once a week or every other week, depending on the package. These sessions will include an electrodermal screening scan to check the overall function of the body, test your metabolic needs and your exercise needs for weight loss. It will also check which digestive enzyme and vitamins a person needs. An antioxidant scan will also be done, which is key to detoxification and disease prevention, and vitamin and essential fatty acid support will be provided. In addition, each part
icipant will wear an inconspicuous armband which will monitor sleep, the calories consumed and burned. Nutrition will also provide a caffeine-free supplement that is clinically proven to improve metabolism. Weight loss and overall health is greatly impacted by our emotions and daily stressors. Nicole will also be incorporating essential oils to help balance out stress levels as well as exercises to get you thinking about how you can bring more balance and joy into your life.
Massage: Tracey Keen of the Swedish Institute will be giving relaxing 60-minute massages, a key for weight loss. Massage stimulates the lymphatic system, which in turn helps the body to detoxify and release excess weight. In addition, it also helps to alleviate tired muscles from the workouts and overall stress. The frequency of the massages depends on the package chosen.
Pilates: Pilates private classes and group mat classes will be held at Uptown Pilates. Uptown Pilates has two locations: one on Madison between 72nd and 73rd and one on 72nd St between Columbus and Amsterdam. Several classes will be offered throughout the day for your convenience.
The Pilates method of body conditioning uses stretching and strengthening exercises to tone muscles, improve posture, provide flexibility and balance, unite body and mind, and create a more streamlined shape. Our method of classical/authentic Pilates minimizes the time spent in a gym (or in front of an exercise video) but maximize the results achieved from a full-body workout. In addition, these exercises have been shown to improve circulation, reduce stress and increase endurance.
Those who participate in a Body Balance program with Pilates will be given two private sessions before entering the group classes. You may then take a combination of tower classes and mat classes.
Private Sessions: One-on-one sessions are the most effective way to focus on your unique needs, injuries or personal concerns. This is the best way to become familiar with the terminology and movement of Pilates.
Tower Class: Joseph Pilates created all the equipment to act as additional muscles to aid the body on its path to health - the group Tower class accesses the weak or illusive areas of your body to uniformly build alignment, muscular balance and aerobic, flowing movement. Limited to 6 participants.
Mat Class: The true essence of all Pilates work. Mat classes offer an aerobic series of floor work exercises designed to create body alignment, long, lean muscles and core strength. Clients are placed in different level classes according to their abilities and physical limitations. Currently limited to 8 participants.
Cooking: Cooking clases are a great add-on to any of our programs! We are offering an exciting opportunity to experience a cooking class with Theresa Gaimaro of The Natural Gourmet Cooking School. The classes will be small (no more than 5 people at a time) and will give you a hands-on opportunity to learn how to prepare an organic, healthy and savory meal! In addition to providing invaluable information on the food you will be preparing, Theresa will also be providing simple recipes that you can duplicate at home.
